Well, my kids are not lacking in personality. That is for sure. They also tend to do things quite often that are "blog worthy" or things that I don't want to forget. I want to be able to remember these sometimes cute, and sometimes not so cute things that they have done or said. I think it will provide us with lots of laughs later on. Braden has been on a roll this week.
He is quite a little helper around the house. With two surgeries over the past 5 months, I have been really limited on what I can do. He loves to help vacuum and pick up. He also tries to help with Gracie. Apparently he found a small hole in Shelby's pack and play the other day. He decided that he needed to "fix" it, so he got out some scissors. I guess in a 4 1/2 year old's mind, you can cut a hole out of something to "fix" it??? By the time he was done fixing the hole, there was a hole big enough that a person could climb through it. In fact, I got out of the shower one morning and found him sitting in the bottom of the pack and play - UNDER Shelby! He said, "Mom, I thought it would be neat to make Shelby a bunk bed!" He was so proud of himself. Unfortunately I was not so proud. Obviously, we cannot use the pack and play for her with a huge hole in the side. We now have to get a new one. Luckily, after a quick posting to Facebook, I have a friend who had mercy on us and has sent one our way. Whew!
Yesterday morning, Braden decided that it was time to put Shelby down for a nap. I guess he thought he would "help" me put her to sleep. So, he got a big handful of "purple night night lotion" and proceeded to smear it all over Shelby's forehead. I quickly asked him what the heck he was doing to which he responded, "Mommy, Shelby is tired. I'm just putting her night night lotion on her so she will go to sleep!" Right, that will work, huh?
Then, this morning I found him sitting beside her in her bouncy seat. She was asleep, but was also covered with a quilt. Luckily there was a canopy type thing that kept the quilt from suffocating her. I asked him why he did that and he informed me that "Shelby sleeps better when it is dark and quiet." Sure enough, she was asleep, but I'm pretty sure we won't be relying on that method to put her down for long. I'm so glad that my kids are both "experts" at taking care of babies though. They sure do teach me alot!
