School Supply Fun...

Ah School Supply Shopping...  What fun!  HA!  Well, I decided today that I would get out with the kids and get a little head start on Kaylee's school supply shopping.  I am excited to say that there are only about 5 things left on the list and we will easily find those this next week.  So, for all practical purposes we are done with that item on our "to-do" list...

However, we don't do anything around here without a little excitement.  There is a story about most every day.  There is a story about today too.  :)  Well, we went to Target to get the school supplies this year.  We found most everything we need there.  The rest I will go get at Wal-mart next week.  Once we finished shopping, we got into a line to check out.  Every line had at least one or two people in it, so I just picked one.  Here's where the fun begins.  Yep, Murphey's law was demonstrated once again.  I picked the SSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOWWWWWWW lane...  The cashier was a nice young kid who felt the need to have quite the conversation with each customer and discuss EVERY item they were purchasing.  He even asked the lady in front of me if she was aware that she was buying a bag full of grapefruits.  When she answered, "Oh, No I meant to get Oranges."  He offered to go find some oranges for her.  Ummm, that's nice and all; but NOT when you have a line full of people.  Oh, I forgot one minor detail...  My 4 year old had announced a minute or two before that, "MOMMY, I've GOTTA GO POOP NOW!"  Yep, now you see why I was feeling the urgent need to check out and GO.

Thank goodness he told her that he better not go get some oranges for her, and he FINALLY finished checking her out.  (After discussing the price she paid for each and every birthday present that she was getting now since they were all on clearance and blah blah blah blah....)  Finally, our turn.  We were buying pencils, paper, crayons, markers, etc...  You know, the basic school supplies.  Of course he started making small talk with the kids about how school is about to start and all.  He asked if this was their first year and if they were excited.  Kaylee was a match for him though.  She informed him, "No, it's my 3rd year.  I went to preschool, kindergarten and now 1st grade."  After that he went on a rant and rave about how preschool is just really day care and it is really expensive and costs an arm and a leg.  He knows this because his cousin put his kids in preschool but then found out it was just daycare.  So, he moved them.  They are twins.  They look like his cousin.  His cousin looks like him.  Only, he is shorter.  Maybe the kids will be taller than their dad and almost as tall as their dad's cousin...  Maybe?  Yes, this was all going on while Braden was turning colors and patiently waiting to make a dash to the bathroom.  Poor kid.

I just smiled and nodded at each and every thing the cashier said and when we were finally done, rushed the kids down to the bathroom.  I didn't know how to politely tell the cashier that if he didn't hurry up he was going to have more to deal with than a long line of customers...  Once we got to the bathroom, "ummm, Mommy I don't have to go anymore.  Maybe later..."  UGH!  He waited.  Until we got back into the car and to Wal-mart's gas station.  Yep, as soon as we pulled in there - "I need to go now!"  So, we unloaded AGAIN, went inside, both big kids used the restroom and we bought a gallon of milk and some eggs.  Then, we went home!  No, we didn't get the last 5 things on the school supply list.  I'll do that next week when I am ready for another story to happen.  :)
